Residents by Occupation

The 1910 Census reflects a variety of occupations held by residents of The Blocks. A small group of residents held professional positions such as nurse, proprietor, merchant, or manager. Some worked as cooks waiters and bartenders in the service industry. Some occupations that reflect industries of the era include teamster, loomkeeper, and presser.  However, of the 79 residents represented, the greatest share of residents worked as laborers (23) and laundresses (17).
