An examination of the 1920s Pensacola City Directories depicts the Belmont-DeVilliers neighborhood as a vibrant community with numerous businesses, residential properties, restaurants, grocery and furniture stores, pharmacies, insurance companies, doctor offices, and bakeries. From 1921 to 1927, the number of businesses did not fluctuate greatly. However, the number of residents increased by more than 60%. The 1921 Pensacola City Directory lists 71 residents, 29 business properties, and seven properties used for both residential and business purposes. Similarly, the 1924 Pensacola City Directory lists 107 residents 27 business properties, 5 properties used for both residential and business purposes and five vacant properties. The 1927 Pensacola City Directory shows even greater residential growth, listing 114 residents, 28 business properties, 5 properties used for both residential and business purposes, and four vacant properties.
