The 1930 Federal Census recorded the birthplace of 158 Blocks residents and business owners as the United States. Of those 158 individuals, the Census recorded 58% born in Florida and 30% in Alabama. Additionally, the documents listed individuals born in the states of Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, and Louisiana. While the data shows that the Federal Census listed the area’s population majority as having birthplaces in Florida, roughly 41% migrated to the from the state from the surrounding Southeastern United States. Data analysis of the 1930 census shows that in addition to the 158 U.S. born individuals, two individuals were born in Canada, one in Jamaica, and six in Greece.
