How has the virus (and the precautions taken to prevent it spreading) impacted your daily life?
My little brother’s school is closed until April 27th, and there are no other child care options. Since I’ve been able to work remotely I went to my hometown (380 miles away) for three weeks to help my mom take care of him. He has respiratory issues so we are checking our temperatures everyday and limiting his exposure to people.
How worried are you about getting the virus?
Not very.
Do you know anyone who has gotten COVID-19?
No
Are you staying in? What are you doing to pass the time?
As much as we can. My mother and I switch every two or three hours between working and entertaining my little brother, and there isn’t much time left after that! On the weekends we’re taking care of chores or working on projects around the house. When I get back to my apartment I plan on getting into some of my hobbies like painting and gardening. And there is always Netflix!
Are you going out? Where do you go and what is it like?
The first week I was at my moms’ I took my brother out to the park. It was the first time in a while that the sun was out so it seemed everyone had the same idea. The first day I got there we went to the mall simply because we needed to get my brother out of the house. It’s the second largest mall in the state and you could count on your fingers how many people were there. It was the first time we could let my little brother walk around without having a tight grip on him. Last week the city passed a shelter in place order, and now we only go out for groceries/ food. It’s the fourth largest city in the state and big tourist destination and downtown looks like a ghost town. It’s kinda creepy.
